Hello Pirate Jam community,
As I sit here reflecting on the journey of creating the Space DLC for Pirate Jam, I wanted to give you a personal update on where things stand.
Firstly, I’m nearing completion of the puzzles for this expansion. It’s been an exciting and sometimes challenging process, but seeing these cosmic puzzles come to life has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve also sprinkled a few Easter eggs throughout the levels – little secrets and hints for you to discover.
One addition I’m very pleased with is the new ‚Retry‘ button. It actually came from a place of personal frustration. There were times during testing when I’d mess up a level and wish I could just start over. This button is a small change, but I think it’ll make a big difference in smoothing out the gameplay.
There’s still some work to be done on fine-tuning the time mode in the new levels. It’s not quite where I want it to be yet, but I’m focused on getting it right. It’s important to me that the game feels seamless and enjoyable, and I won’t stop until it meets that standard.
For both the base game and the DLC, I’ve introduced visual feedback when your ship makes contact with another. It’s a detail that adds to the feel of the game, making each action and its consequences more tangible.
Finally, I’ve been thinking a lot about the difficulty of the base levels. Your feedback has been invaluable, and it’s become clear that they could be more challenging. I’m looking at ways to rework these levels to add more depth and complexity, and to make them more appealing to those of you who have been with Pirate Jam from the beginning.
Thank you for being part of this adventure. Your support and feedback keeps me motivated and focused. Here’s to many more hours of pirate fun!
P.s.: I think the release date will be 21 December 2023. Just in time for the Steam Winter Sale. Of course there will be a discount 🙂
